Bringing the next generation along for the ride

Most of us in the ad industry have had some kind of work experience before landing that elusive junior role – be it a placement, a bit of freelance, or a mock brief at an agency. It gives you an insight into industry, builds connections and gets you set up for interviews to come.

We know getting into the industry is tough. And at Ride Shotgun we’re all for paying it forward, bringing the next generation along for the ride just like someone did for us once. And the great thing is we’re not just willing but able to give students the full agency experience.

Strategists, copywriters, art directors, marketers, producers, stylists, photographers, retouchers, packaging designers, client services, developers, CGI, digital marketers.. and breathe. We’ve got them all in-house and busily working on exciting projects all year round.

Perfect for students to get expert insight into any department or setting they could be working with in their careers. Or even scope out a variety of roles if they’re not sure of their direction after their course finishes. Not to mention introducing future riders to our agency so they feel confident applying for roles with us when they pop up.

We are committed to supporting the development of not only our internal riders, but those looking to take their first step into the industry. And who knows, maybe even become a future rider!

As someone who started their career as an apprentice, I fully understand the importance of having a mentor and business who gives you exposure to all aspects of the working world. We want to give back to our community, so what better way than witnessing it first hand through work experience?

Alice Stone, Ride Shotgun Group HR Manager

Coming up to our second birthday, we’re already working with colleges and universities to give students a look at agency life. Like our most recent work with Leeds Arts University, where we set a competition brief for our client HSBC.

The prize? A two week paid placement here at Ride Shotgun with portfolio-boosting briefs and time with any department they’re interested in learning more about. Watch this space to hear more about their experience with us.
